Chitosan based hydrogels as luminescent chemosensors for detection and removal of heavy metals

OBJECTIVES
The main objective of the project is to develop luminescent chemosensors with eco- design, for detection and removal of heavy metals. This generic objective will be fulfilled in three steps corresponding to three logically chained scientific objectives, further divided in activities. The dissemination of the obtained results constitutes the forth project objective.
O1. Synthesis of two luminescent hydrogels and corresponding xerogels

O2. Testing the metal sensing ability of the hydrogels/xerogels
​
O3. Designing materials as sensors for specific heavy metals
​
O4. Dissemination of the project results as at least two papers published in ISI journals and two presentations in international/national meetings.
